The American Cocker Spaniel is a dropped eared breed and the mature Cocker is shown in a full feathered, silky coat. When kept as a pet, performance dog, or hunting companion, the fur is often shortened on the legs, sides and belly. Cockers weigh an average of 18 to 28 pounds. For show dogs, the ideal height of a Cocker Spaniel is 15 inches for dogs and 14 inches for bitches at the withers.
